Summer is finally here and a lot of outdoor activities too. We made a list of ideas on how to keep your dog cool and hydrated this summer.
If you are going on walks or a hike, make sure you bring plenty of water for you and your fur-baby. Taking a backpack on walks it's a great way to bring things to help your dog stay hydrated and cool. Some items you can take:
- Water bottles
- Frozen water bottles
- Towel
You can wrap the frozen water bottle on the towel to cool the towel down and use it as comfy spot for your fur-baby to lay down and rest. This will help cool down your fur-baby. If you think your furbaby might be overheating, this is a great way to help them cold down in a safe way as well. In this scenario if you are giving them water, make sure to give them room temperature water to hydrate. Avoid giving them cold water or pouring cold water on their head since that can cause more harm that good.
If you are home and have space for a small kiddie pool, fill it up with water for your fur-baby. It's a great way for them to stay cool and still be able to have fun outdoors. You can also use a sprinkler to keep your fur-baby entertain and cool as well as hydrated.
You can also look for parks in your area that are dog friendly and have a lot of trees and shade. This way you are still able to take your fur-baby for a walk. If it's too hot, remember to take them for shorter walks since they will get tired faster than normal.
We hope you have a wonderful Summer!
